NECESSAIRE: THE DEODORANT

Socialites, quarantine sent me down a rabbit hole when it came to research. One of the things I really fixated on was body care. I couldn’t believe the articles I was reading about the dangers of the chemicals found in most every day deodorants, body washes and sprays. I was scuuurrred. Switching to a natural deodorant was something I had wanted to do for years but never found the opportune time to make the transition. What better time than not being able to leave your house for 4 months?
So the experiment commenced. But I didn’t bother with finding a deodorant that was right for me right away, first I wanted to DETOX. I say I went a solid 5 months without wearing any deo. Can you believe that? And as you would expect, yes, the first month or so was…smelly to say the least. But that was my body purging all of harmful ingredients Teen Spirit, Dove, and Secret had all piled onto me over the years. *shakes head*
Things started to get way more tolerable after the first 6 weeks. I also began to notice that a balanced diet also positively affected this experiment. If I spent a week eating bullsh*t the scent definitely got…louder. LOL.
What made me start researching natural deodorants was well, I had to go back to work. Quarantine was over and I had to rejoin society (to my dismay). Initially I was testing out using apple cider vinegar and lemons for odor control, and it worked! But I was worried that if I were to be at work and started to sweat and move around that an odor may start to…erupt, and I don’t have the luxury of running to the break room and squeezing fresh lemon juice on my armpits, unfortunately.
So that led me to The Deodorant by Necessaire. Their company is heralded on providing sustainable body care that is clean and natural with high quality ingredients. And those are all things I can get behind. Also the packaging is sleek as hell.
The Deodorant is a cream consistency which was something that I wasn’t used to! And its also dispersed through a twist-up. I read reviews that complained about the forumula being wet upon application and I mean yeah, it’s a cream. Duh? So that I don’t mind at all. It dries down fast and lasts all day. And the Eucalyptus scent is super refreshing.
The Deodorant is also formulated at specific a pH to support the skin. Which is essential when talking things like odor control and ensuring the skins compatibility with the active ingredients like lactic and mandelic acid.
If I had to make one critique it’d be that it can get a little messy on the top and lid. But nothing a little wipe can’t fix!
Overall I’d rate The Deodorant 9.5/10. it’s Girl About Town approved!
